S/S Hair Care

The weather has already been good this week, and for the next week it will become better again. You really can feel summer is getting closer! Summer definitely is my favourite season: the good weather, the bunch of sunshine, swimming outdoors, getting together with friends the whole time. One downside to the good summer weather is the damage it can do to your hair. The past few years I've been searching how to reduce the damage as much as possible, so why not share what I've learnt?

1) Moisturize
It's always good to moisturize your hair, but in summer you should moisturize even more. I always make sure to use a conditioner or a leave-in conditioner, but a moisturizing hair mask usually stays behind because of a lack of time. In summer, however, I try to use a hair mask at least once a week. You should look for a mask that fits your hair type, because no hair type needs the same care, but I love the l'Oreal ones a lot. My hair has less split ends, and even though I don't use any hair straightener, my hair looks sleeker.

2) No heat
That's how we get to my second tip: use less heat on your hair. By using a hair mask, my hair looks sleek enough without using a straightener. Instead of using a hairdryer, let your hair dry naturally. You might have to change your morning routine so you wash your hair earlier, but hey: your hair will thank you. ;)

3) Hats!
Hats don't only look good, they're also good for your hair! Fashion and functionality in one, what could be better? I usually wear them on holidays, because at home I can't wear them when I ride my bicycle, which is literally every day. They're just the perfect summer holiday accessory!

4) Rinse before swimming
Blondes may notice the effects of swimming on their hair in a green shine on it, but for all hair types swimming may have bad consequences. That's why it's best to make sure your hair will take up as little water as possible when swimming. You can do this by rinsing your hair before swimming, so your hair is "full" and won't take up any bad things from the water. Another possibility is to use hair oil, which has the same consequences, but has the advantage of providing extra care to your hair.

How do you care for your hair?
